I might ask you to think about what would it look like to have the perfect role. I don't mean perfect manager, I don't mean perfect coworkers, but I'm thinking about what does that, just the job look like? (calm music) All right, let's get with it. (screen beeping) Nope, I wanna start over. (screen beeping) You didn't stop rolling, have you? No. Nope. (Neca and cameraman laughing) Hi, I'm Neca and I'm a coach here at Headspace. So what is a coach? A mental health coach helps you focus on your immediate mental health goals so that you can work on those and develop a plan for what's next. It's a little bit different from therapy, whereas therapy is more focused on the past and maybe even diagnoses. With coaching, we're a little bit more solution focused, and so that's what we're gonna talk about today. Let's talk to Mia. She has a question. There are situations when I feel like my safety and security will be compromised, and I panic and can't calm down unless I tell someone about it. For example, my manager is terrible at his job. I've put up with this for years, and the new owners seem to be okay with this. I love what I do and don't want to quit, but I also wanna be acknowledged and accepted and financially compensated accordingly. I feel so lost and panicked in the unknown of what might happen. Will I have to leave my job? Move away? What will I do next? How do I get through this without putting my foot in my mouth in order to calm down? Mia, this question, or thought goes through most employees' mind, probably 50% of the time, maybe even more, when you're in a position where you might love your job, but you don't necessarily love the company. I might ask you to think about what would it look like to have the perfect role. I don't mean perfect manager, I don't mean perfect coworkers, but I'm thinking about what does that, just the job look like? And then I think about what is in my locus of control. Can't control your manager. Can't control the new owners. Can't control your coworkers. What we can control though, is our perspective and how we think and what we do. If the solution is another role, then building up our confidence to say that I'm good enough to go anywhere and do what I do. I have what it takes. Or if it is I'm gonna stay, then it is changing your perspective, maybe building your confidence to have these conversations, right, with the manager, with the new owner. But I think it starts with you being confident in your abilities and what you bring to the table that any employer would be glad to have. Hope that helps, Mia. (calm music)...
