Better mental health starts with Headspace

Hi, it's Eve here. In this particular conversation, we're going to be talking about and making space for the grief and the loss that can be experienced and encountered when you're on this journey. So I'll just say before we dive in, please be gentle with yourself and be kind. I am again joined in the studio by two incredible human beings, Rosie and Shula. Hello, welcome back. Thanks, I'm so excited to be here. Yeah, thank you so much for making the space for these important conversations. Grief is obviously a universal experience, and I think when it comes to fertility, there are maybe some more visible areas that are maybe perhaps more acknowledged, but I think there's also a lot where they maybe go unnoticed, and the losses aren't necessarily acknowledged. And I know I felt that in my journey. And so how do we make that space for grief and to process, in some instances, the many losses that can occur on this journey? And I don't even wanna say big or small because it's not that. Yeah. It's just like losses across the board. I think that's a really great way to put it, because it doesn't create a specific value for one. And it sort of creates this hierarchy of, this loss is worse than this. It's like loss is loss. What comes up for me in this conversation is, you know, the process of having a miscarriage or when you miscarry in this fertility journey, because, in my experience, I went through three different miscarriages at different points, two at six weeks and one at eight weeks. The doctor was like, this happens all the time. Don't worry. It's gonna happen. Let's just move on. Or I would tell friends of mine that have had kids, oh yeah, that happened to me. It's like not a big deal. When you're in that process, to me, it felt like a really big deal. So it, in a way, felt like it was negating my experience, which, anytime you're in grief and somebody negates your experience, it feels awful. So painful. Yeah. So I really feel like, when we're going through this process and having these conversations, really acknowledging yourself and also just learning how to support your loved ones that are going through this process. I'm speaking specifically to having a miscarriage, regardless of the stage you were in, regardless. You know, I have friends of mine that have gone through them not being able to get embryos or them not even able to get successful egg retrieval. And people are just like, oh, just try again. Or you're just gonna have to go. Just say that. Try again. Yeah, just try again. Just do it again. And to me, I think because I have that experience and I have the empathy for it, like, the minute that I give them that care, or even I just say, tell me how you're feeling. Like, how are you...
