Better mental health starts with Headspace

(soft music) Hi, it's Eve here with you. Welcome back to our conversation on fertility. We've been diving into some of the struggles and the difficulties that can arise when you are on a fertility journey, such as isolation and loneliness, and the anxiety and the uncertainty, and really processing and managing the stress that we can carry in our body. In this conversation, such an important topic, and that is self-care. Like how do we make time and space for self-care when we work full-time, when we have other responsibilities, when we're trying to navigate information from doctors and other people and friends, and processing it all? Often there isn't a lot of time for self-care. So I'm joined again by Rosie and Sheila. And maybe let's kick off the episode sharing what do you do for self-care, or maybe what do you do for fun? I love reading. I love playing with my dogs. I'm such an animal person, and nature is extremely healing. I know we can probably all agree with that, but yeah, I feel like I want to come up with something really cool, like I want to do some like extreme sport or something. Karaoke. I like to karaoke. Do you? I'm not good at it, Eve. For me, it's going in nature, playing with my dog, traveling, moving my body. I mean, just, there's so many. Movement. I love movement. Yeah. It's so great. Dance, music, just to like put on music and dance and that's it. My husband and I tinker around with playing records and stuff like that, so I've been trying to get back into a bit of that. And also, yeah, when I go and walk my dog Pedro, like that little chappy just brings me so much, he's a giver of joy. And nature for me too is such a huge one. I grew up in the countryside, so I always feel tied to nature. And so whenever I'm feeling kind of low, I know like a good walk maybe by the sea up in the hills is so restorative. And cooking for me is a big one as well. I love cooking and it helps me feel connected to my dad, who is a chef. Mm. And there's again, like to be really mindful in that process. Yeah. Like aware of where the food came from, the smells, the textures I think can be really, really restorative. Essential, you know? Yeah. Yeah. It's really essential. All of these things. Yeah. Like I think everything we're talking about, it's like bringing you back to your senses and it's, yeah, you have to focus on it or it takes you away into it. Yeah. Yeah. The sensations. And sometimes I think...
