Better mental health starts with Headspace

You used to dream about today. Your work, your family, your community of friends, the city you call home. There is something in your life today that you used to wish for, but it's so easy to forget that. We're constantly looking ahead to the future and striving to get the next thing we want. But if we spend too much time focusing on our future dreams and goals, we risk missing out on celebrating all that we've accomplished already. We forget to savor what we have now. So today, for a moment, let's set aside all that you're striving for and focus on savoring what you have right now, all the dreams and goals that have already come true for you. Gently close your eyes or softly lower your gaze. Take a deep breath with me, in and out. Take a stretch that feels good to you. Maybe you move your neck from side to side, or roll your shoulders back or even take a forward fold. As you stretch, breathe deeply into that area. Breathing in and out. I'll give you a moment to explore on your own. Return to a comfortable position and settle in with another breath. Breathing in and out. Start to imagine a younger version of yourself, maybe six months ago or a few years ago, or maybe even back to your childhood. Pick a past self that feels comfortable for you to work with today. Now what about your life right now would delight this younger you? Take some time to reflect and then tell this younger self something about you now that would delight them. Great job. Now think of something about your life that would surprise them. What have you done that they would never have expected? Take some time to tell your younger self now. Finally, tell them about some love in your life now that waits for them in their future. It might be someone or something you love, or perhaps it is someone or something that loves you. But take the time to tell your younger self what love is waiting for them in their future. Wonderful job. Now see your younger self walk away and imagine yourself turning around and you see your older self in the distance. They also have stories to tell you about dreams fulfilled, surprises in store, love waiting. Everything imagined and unimaginable waiting for you. Gently return your attention to your breath and release your visualization. Wonderful job. So much of what we have today, we used to dream about. So much of what we love today is beyond what we could have hoped for. It can be easy to focus on what we haven't done yet or what we still hope to achieve. And there is nothing wrong with planning and hoping for tomorrow. We just need to remember to also celebrate what we have today. Let's take one last deep breath together, breathing in and out. Repeat this after me,...
