Better mental health starts with Headspace. Unrivaled expertise to make life feel a little easier, using guided meditations, mindfulness tips, focus tools, sleep support, and dedicated programs.
Whether we recognize it or not, there is something beyond where we are from, what we do, the way we live, and what we like. Something that connects all of us as human beings in this lifetime. So meditation focuses very much on this idea of a shared human condition. That regardless of where we're from in the world, our culture, our tradition, our race, our religion, our age, our gender, our sexuality or anything else, that beyond all of that, there is something that connects us all. And each time we meditate, each time we step out of all of those concepts, those ideas, we connect with one another, not as an idea, but there is a connection, and it's that connection that feels so good. When we leave all of that discursive thinking of what's right, and what's wrong, what's good, or what's bad, or whatever else might be going on in our mind, we experience that feeling, not only of ease in ourself, but of connection with the world around us. So just taking a moment to get comfortable whether you're sat on a chair, on the floor. Wherever you are, you're gonna begin with the eyes open, nice soft focus and a big deep breath. Breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth. And as you breathe out, just gently closing the eyes and just feeling the weight of the body press down. So noticing the different points of contact, the arms, hands, resting on the legs. Perhaps the legs and the feet resting on the floor. Just feeling the weight of the body. And at the same time, noticing the space around you, noticing any sounds. Not getting lost in the sounds but just noticing the sounds, allowing the sounds to come and go. And then bringing the attention back to the body. Starting to notice very subtle movement of breath, that rising and falling sensation. Noticing where in the body you feel that movement, just resting the attention there. And then just letting go of that focus. Just bringing the attention back once again, the feeling of contact and weight in the body. Starting to notice the space around you again, any sounds, any smells. And then when you feel ready, just gently opening the eyes again....
