Better mental health starts with Headspace

When we reject the notion of a shared human condition, conflict invariably follows. Only in realizing the simple truth of our interconnectivity can we discover inner and outer peace? So when we sit to meditate, at first it might feel a quite a soloist sort of pursuit as though we're shutting ourselves off from the world. But actually when we start to watch the mind and we start to see the difficulties and challenges in the mind, we actually start to see that those not only exist in our own mind, but they exist in the minds of everyone. But as human beings, we experience these emotions, they are part of, they're a shared part of our existence. And the more, or the deeper our understanding of that becomes the more interconnected we feel with the world around us. It doesn't matter whether people come from a different place or have a different opinion about life. We understand that beneath all of that we're living a shared human existence. And the moment we really understand that, we start to find a place of peace in our own mind and a sense of harmony with the world around us. So make sure you're sitting comfortably, that you're not gonna be disturbed for the next few minutes. And we're gonna begin with a deep breath. Breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth. As you breathe in, just noticing how the chest expands, it fills with air. And as you breathe out, as you exhale, just watching as the muscles in the body soften a little bit. You can just gently close your eyes if you haven't done already. And just take a moment just to notice the sensation of touch, that feeling of weight who have contacted the body pressing down against the seat or the floor beneath you. The sensation of the hands, the arms just resting on your legs or in your lap. Perhaps your feet on the floor, and noticing any sounds around you. As you bring the attention back to the body now, notice how the body feels. There's any discomfort? Or if the body feels quite relaxed at ease right now? We're just gonna gently rest our attention on the breath, the movement of the breath in the body. Without trying to change the breath in any way., allowing thoughts to come and go. We're just following that movement of breath. Resting the mind in that place. And then very gently letting go the focus on the breath, just coming back to the body, coming back to that feeling of contact, of weight, starting to notice the sounds around you again. And then when you're ready, just gently opening the eyes again....
