(intro jingle) Sam, best way to start a new season? Hmm. I think a great way to start a new season is to reflect, just take some time and journal. Ask yourself what you're looking forward to, reconnect with your values and the way you wanna show up to the family functions coming up, Thanksgiving and the holidays. And just be intentional and give yourself that time to kind of reset as you enter the new season. Have you ever wished you had a wise meditation teacher on speed dial? Someone you can call after a long day. Someone you could lean on for their advice. Someone to listen and help you to see things differently. Welcome to "Dear Headspace." Hi folks! We are back with another episode of "Dear Headspace," a podcast where each week, I sit down with a Headspace meditation teacher and we answer your questions. Now I am still Robin Hopkins and I am here with today's co-host, and of course Headspace meditation teacher, Sam. Sam, we're back together again! I am so excited! I'm so excited. Well, it's- So it's been a little bit of a minute since we recorded the pilot. How have you been? What's happening with you, Sam? Yeah, I've been really well. Just doing things I enjoy. I play a lot of board games. I do a lot of trivia. And I've been working on scripting a course on fear, which has been incredible because it's such a huge topic. I mean, it's the most primal emotion that we have. And as I'm writing it, I'm just thinking about how it's beyond an emotion. You know, fear is like, it's our most basic impulse toward or away from something. And it's just been an incredible process to really dive deep into that topic. You know what's so funny is I'm currently having this conversation about fear with my son because he's really scared. He's at that age now where he's starting to take himself on the subway to and from school. And so we were talking a lot about how you can make choices to make yourself feel safe, but then at some point you have to move your life forward in spite of the fear, that two things can be true at the same time. Right, exactly. And actually the research shows that the way we tell the story of fear to ourselves, and you're spot on, like the strength and the resilience that we're showing in spite of fear, gives us the confidence to keep showing up in moments of fear, to keep acting courageously. So it's really important to have that. I'm so happy to hear that, that you're like helping him create that narrative for himself. All right. Now, before we get to our questions, we do have a pitch for our listeners, Sam. That's right. So now you know we wanna hear your questions, but we'd also love for you to share with us some of...
