(air whooshes) (cursor clicks) (gentle music) Headspace Studios. (relaxing music) Greetings, greetings, Kessonga here, and welcome to "Radio Headspace." It's a magnificent Monday. So this week I thought it'd be fun to revisit my segment called "Mindful Music." What I generally do is give a little snippet of lyrics from a song that speaks to a certain theme of mindfulness. I then discuss what it means to me, and then at the end of the episode, I reveal what the song is. Now, I wanna reiterate, it's what the lyrics mean to me. (chuckles) I am fully aware of my quirky taste and interpretations, but hopefully you may be introduced to a new perspective, or at least be introduced or reintroduced to a new awesome song. So, with that being said, here are today's lyrics. "And they say I'm so shy, yeah. But with you, I just go wild." (soft music) The first reason these lyrics speak to me actually has to do with the artist and the process of creating this entire album. They took it upon themselves to write, produce, compose, and arrange every single song themselves. When I think of the dedication, the faith, the consistency, and the discipline that it took to take on such a feat, I'm just immediately inspired. And get this, the artist was only 19 years old at the time, and they had the ability and the resilience to get it done. They didn't allow the corporate pressure or any negative self-talk to get to them. Oftentimes, we allow self-doubt and/or the self-deprecating stories we create in our heads to hold us back from what we want. So, yeah, this artist's resilience is totally inspiring. Now onto the specific lyrics themselves. "And they say I'm so shy, yeah. But with you, I just go wild." I immediately gravitate towards the last two lines. The artist describes themselves as so shy because that's how people perceive them, but they're able to just go wild when they're with a particular person. It's a beautiful feeling to befriend a person that inspires you to be yourself without any judgment. I had a friend like this at summer camp when I was younger, maybe around 11 years old. He instilled in me a sort of fearlessness when it came to swimming. If it wasn't for him, I wouldn't have been brave enough to take my water treading skills from the pool to the vast middle of the ocean. (chuckles) You don't forget those type of people that come into your life and empower you. In fact, I invite you to take a pause right now from what you're doing. Maybe close your eyes gently and just seeing if you can bring to mind such a person from your life. (calming music) And opening your eyes now, maybe taking a deep breath in through the nose and out through the mouth if it's comfortable for you. (upbeat music) And I'm curious how taking that mindful, reflective pause felt...
