Lemme tell you about the key to self-confidence. Really it's just about committing to who you are. Sometimes you just have to pretend though. I mean, can I say that? 'Cause it's the truth. Are we ready? Are we ready to start? To begin? Let's do it. Hi, I'm Rosie. Welcome to "Ask Rosie." Ding, ding, ding, ding, ding. There have been several questions around this topic of self-confidence. A member has a question for us, so let's read it. "You have managed to present yourself in what appears to be a truly authentic way. How do you stay grounded, stay focused, and stay true? And what are your non-negotiables that help you find the balance of showing your authentic self?" Ooh, that's really good. That is a great question because in a sense, this member is asking how do I stay in my true, confident, truth-trusting state within myself and also protect myself, right? So I think a lot of the times what we can do when we are wanting to express our true feelings or express who we are, we feel vulnerable, right? I mean, think about exposing yourself in that way. It really takes a lot of courage to be who you are fully. I remember one of the first times I told my friends that I was meditating, and I just remember feeling so good about what I was doing and how embarrassed I felt the minute that everybody started to make fun of me. I remember walking home thinking, "I never wanna share anything private with anybody ever again." And that feeling stood with me. I think anytime we've experienced feeling humiliated or feeling like we're not being received fully, it creates a barrier and it creates that protection mechanism. So how do you go from feeling wounded to feeling confident, right? So I just go back to the definition of trust. The Latin definition of confidence is fidere and it means to trust, which, for a lot of us, it can be really hard, right? I know that for me, that's definitely the case. I think one of the things that really helped me in my journey, I was consistent. I think self-trust is just like any other habit that you build. You can do the rituals and the routines to get you to a place of feeling it. Think about anything in your life that you feel completely clear on. It could be as simple as, "I love to drink coffee." (bell dings) You don't question why you like it, you just do it. You're not asking all of your friends and your text threads "Oh, I don't really know how I feel about coffee today." It's like, you just do it. Going back to this question of how you stay true to your authentic self, I think it's just gonna take practice, you know? Do the things that make you feel like the youest you you can and be consistent. Learn ways...
