Better mental health starts with Headspace

Headspace Studios. (bright chime) Hi everyone, it's Robin. And today I am joined by Eve and Headspace therapist Ryan. And we have some really thought provoking questions lined up for today's episode, including the topics of fear of dying and how to quiet a restless mind. We also hear from a listener sharing a mindful moment about calming her son down. And I don't know if you're like me, but I love a mindful moment. So let's get right to it. Have you ever wished you had a wise meditation teacher on speed dial? Or a therapist you can call after a long day? Or a mental health coach you can lean on for advice? Someone to help you see things differently? Welcome to "Dear Headspace," a podcast where I sit down with Headspace experts and we answer your questions. Hi Eve. Hi Ryan. Hi. Hello. OMG Ryan, it is your first time on Dear Headspace. Well, I mean on behalf of both Eve and I, welcome. Thank you both so much. I could not be more excited to be here. It's so cool, frankly, to be a part of this show and the incredible audience that you guys have built and all the amazing questions that get asked. So I'm ready to jump in. I'm laughing 'cause I thought you were gonna say, "Thank you so much. I couldn't have done it without you." And I was like, "You really couldn't, I guess, if you really think about it." Well that would be true. Alright, you two. Well, I don't know if you heard the little intro, but someone sent us a mindful moment for today's episode and I am so excited to dig into that. But first, we have a question from Carmela who's looking for help with her racing mind. So here we go. I am Carmela from Colorado. Throughout the day I notice I am always silently counting or there are just random thoughts running through my head constantly. It's exhausting and I would like help in quieting my mind. Thank you. Oh, thank you for this question, Carmela. So this is, now she didn't give a lot of detail, so I think there's a lot of ways we could look at it, but I'm interested in your initial takes. What do y'all think? Yeah, Carmela, thank you for asking this question. I think you're probably asking this question on behalf of probably a lot of people, I would say, in that our minds can often feel really, really busy and hectic and it can be quite overwhelming. You mentioned counting and I'm not sure if that's something that you've been doing for a while or you've noticed it as a new thing, but I just want to reassure you that having a busy mind isn't, try not to worry too much. Of course, as Robin said, you didn't share a huge amount of context, so we're not a hundred percent sure what's going on in your life,...
